Has your decorative plasterwork been damaged by flooding, timber rot, fire, or simply deteriorated through time?

Maybe you are developing a property or making room layout alterations or an extension?

Whatever the reason, a room never looks complete with cornice missing, and Reproduction Plaster Company are here to assist.

CASE STUDIES

All of the following case studies have been carried out by using the process of sampling the original detail on site, creating moulds in our premises to match existing, and manufacturing material which matches the existing exactly, before returning to site for fitting. The end product is a seamless looking reinstatement of the very highest quality, and following decoration it should appear the ceiling was never lost in the first place.

Basic Plain Moulded Cornice

A simple plain run cornice is cut out during downtaking works whilst slapping through an existing wall to create a new window.

Ornate Plate Enriched Cornice

This is a fairly typically sized ornate cornice, and a typical looking repair. Bay windows are notorious for ceiling plaster defects, and in this instance the cornice is cut out as a result of water ingress, dry rot and window replacement works.

Open-work Enrichment

The defective front half of this ceiling was cut out during renovation works. This is what we refer to as an open-work enrichment, and photo 2 illustrates well how this is bedded into the fitted cornice carcass in situ.

Cornice Top Section Repair

There can be occasions such as this, whereby a section of ceiling is defective and only the ceiling section of cornice requires replacement. We call this a ‘top section’ replacement! This particular ceiling had the addition of a ribbed profile panelled ceiling, with complex 3-way intersection joints.

Your plaster cornice seamlessly reinstated matching the original detail

Here at Reproduction Plaster Company, we are repairing this typical scenario of traditional plaster ceiling damage on a day to day basis. With insured repairs we work with many of the industries insurance contractors, or directly with the homeowner or policy holder, or the repairs may be necessary as part of a redevelopment of a traditional property that has had the ornate plaster or cornice detail damaged or lost through the years.

Reproduction Plaster Company have the ability to recreate and restore any type of missing or damaged plaster mouldings. We carry out all sizes of repairs from small sections of damaged plain run cornices within domestic properties, to elaborate traditional enriched cornices. Whether it be a private residence, commercial property, or even any of the great theatres or art galleries, Reproduction Plaster Company have the skills and experience to complete the job.

Using traditional plastercraft techniques, our team is able to create an exact replica of your original cornice, pillar or other decorative plaster feature. The process starts with obtaining samples, or a ‘squeeze’ of the cornice on site, which then allows our team to manufacture (hand-made) all necessary moulds and material for your job within our purpose built premises. We then re-attend site for the job itself, where the end result is quite stunning. The new ornate plasterwork seamlessly joins into the existing plasterwork and, following redecoration, no-one should know it was ever missing.
