The summer of 2016 saw the opening of the newly refurbished Trump Turnberry Golf Resort, following a £200 million refurbishment project. As well as upgrades to the Ailsa Championship Golf Course, there was major refurbishment of the existing hotel, complete with a new ballroom extension.
We carried out extensive repairs to the existing ornate plaster work through all main restaurants and function suites, as well as all bedroom floors which also have cornices throughout. Even although this phase of the works required 2 of our squads on site for 4 months repairing hundreds of metres of cornice, renewing around 1000m of plaster wall panelling throughout the restaurant, complete with Corinthian column repairs, reinstatement of new plaster lighting trough details, and restoration of decorative beam soffit detail, the showpiece part of the project, for us, was the installation of the new ballroom ceiling.
We were very much involved with the design of this ceiling at the initial stages working closely with the architect Covell Matthews, and then took the final designs through our bespoke manufacturing process at our Kirkintilloch premises. The photographs illustrate the full installation process through to the stunning end result.
